Hey guys, I'm having a problem that's got me stumped. A few days ago my heater decided it doesn't want to pump out as much heat as usual. The car gets to normal operating temp at the normal rate, and holds it, so I'm pretty sure it's not the thermostat. Usually when I have the temp slider on max heat I have to turn it down right away because it's way too hot, but now it's just blowing warm air, not hot air. btw, my car is a '98 318is.
What could the problem be? I don't really think it's the microfilter, because it still blows air, just not hot air. Also it doesn't matter if I set the temp slider all the way on hot and then the climate control to 32C it's still not as hot as usual. It also doesn't matter if it's on auto or manual.
Can someone please help, -40C and not much heat does not make for a happy bimmer driver.

Do you notice if you have water lying in the floorboard? It could be a bad heater core.
The end of the cable is probably loose for the heat flap, if you do indeed have the cables, which you probably do if you have slide levers.
I believe that if you take the glovebox out, you'll see the cable on the right side of the heater case. Make sure that the cable housing is secured at the end, and that the end of the cable is secure to the flap.
Z3's have this problem fairly often, and your setup is about the same.
