Is This Normal For The Airbag Light?

Getting my 95 318i on wednesday but I noticed something with the airbag light on the dash. When I turn on the engine it will stay on for a few minutes than goes off. All the cars I've owned before only turned on for a few seconds than goes off. Is this normal for BMWs?

Also when I push down on the rear right wheel it gives me a squish squeak, what can that be?

i have the exact thing with my car even the squeek on the same wheel... i have no idea what it is

If it is a sqeek.. it will probably soon turn to a thump.. this is a common problem with E36s..

What your problem is.. is your rear shock mounts... mainly the rubber bushing atop the shock/strut.. has failed.. thus letting it bounce around.. causing the sqeek... and then when it fully fails.. its a thump.. do some research.. you may find replacement from www.rogueengineering.com with lifetime garantees... also I think www.turnermotorsports.com carries them too..

As for your air bag light.. it would be a good idea to get the code read from the car .. because there are a few things that would cause that light to come on...

Yea but the strange thing is it goes off after a few minutes so it doesn't actually stay on.

Which one is lit?

Also I had that squeek, replaced shocks with bilstein and reinforced mounts and good to go..no more squeek

well actually its kinda weird that i have the srs air bag light and the squeek in the samw wheel.???!?!?!?... but i doubt it has anything to do with the airbag. prob just a coincedence.

On the airbag light, chances are the instrument cluster was removed without disconnecting the battery. I do not know how to reset this light with any at-home methods, but wouldn't mind finding one (I've tried the service reset jumper without luck). I would still have it checked out or reset by a shop as I won't guarantee there isn't something else wrong (and take no responsibilty of personal injury).

I have the same issue after replacing the backlight bulbs after removing the cluster.
