i'm not a BMW owner yet, but i'm planning to change that.
I've been looking for a e36 bimmer for a little while and hope to spend under $7k for a decent car. I realize that to keep the price low, i'll prob. have to get an older year 3-series. My question, i guess, is just how pricey is BMW maintenance. I'm not affraid to have to baby a car and put time into it ... i previosly owned a Volvo 850 and any volvo owner will tell you there's always Something that needs to be fixed on a volvo. And parts a rediculously high ... stupid swedes built a nice tank but tanks are expensive ...
how expensive is the upkeap on an older e36 (lets say one w/ faily low miles, well kept) compared to other cars? (maybe even to volvos cause i know them well)
any input greatly appreciated from hopeful 16-year old ...
thanks,
alex

hello fellow 16 year old. Im 16 and have a 93' 325is that is sweet but it just got totalled so now im looking for a 95' M3 to replace it with. I bought my 325is for 6000$ with 100k miles in perfect condition. i waited 4 months to find it though so the key is patience and constant searching.
and when you find one that seems reasonable jump at the oppurtunity quick to check it out. but be prepared to walk away if its a POS. i had my heartbroken over 3 cars that i drove an hour or more to see and they turned out to have problems. be firm in you offers and dont act weak in any way, just be prepared to walk away from the car. Youll love the car its awesome. kinda expensive compared to jap or american cars but its worth it and its probably around as much as a volvo but youll love it. first day i drove it i had just washed, ppolished, and waxed it and burned my tires in 1rst and 2nd in the school parking lot and couldnt have been more fun. the 325is tops at 129mph but dont get a 92 they have too many problems start with a 93 and work newer.
