noobe needs questions answered

I have got a lot of help he re and I appreciate it
I am new to the BMW cars so I am unfamiliar with them
I have a 97 328 111000 miles
Do the valves need to be adjusted or are they hydraulic
also does it have a timeing belt or chain
the guy I got it from didnt know much just drove it

there is a tapping noise like a loose lifter when you first start it then it goes away (runs great though)

your engine has hydraulic lifters and uses a timing chain.

sticky lifters can cause the tapping noise u hear. try a motor flush when next you change oil ;-)

Does any one know if the 1992 325 engine came with the vanos system?

u shldv started your own new thread... but all is well.

VANOS(Variable Valve Timing Technology) was first introduced in 1992 on the BMW M50tu engine used in the 5 Series. so NO, not on ur 325 ;-)

didnt the 325 get the Vanos in 96? j/w so for the thread jacking
