Does anyone know if this can be done in an e36? I want to get electric seats, but don't want to wire a bunch of stuff up. If so, anyone have any seats to sell? tan leather only.

ive never heard of anyone converting from non to electric.
honestly why would you with a 2door. but in the event that you must do it. id say get a set of set of electic seats like you suggested, and then figure out how you are gonna power them.

I was told it could be done. For $292 David Auto in NYC wanted to install all used leather electric /heated seats in place of my cloth non-powered ones on my 318i sedan...
he said it was no big deal and he'd did lots of jobs like this before...
but I usaully hear that the bMW powered seats aren't all that better than non-powered ones...meaning they move slowwwwwwwww when you adjust them where as non powered seats move immediately with your body movement....ya dig?
You can do it. People do it all the time, obviously requires some re-wiring, maybe a hole in your carpet. I prefer the manual ones though. They are lighter and do everything the same except seat warming. You don't have to worry about your motors wearing out either.
my $.02
Good luck.

: : : : :
tell him to unplug the battery and plug it back in then re-adjust the seat. If it still don't move have him remove and re-insert the seat and try it...if not then it could be a worn motor for that motion....
but funny nevertheless... ..to be driving round town laid back like that
Haha, it wasn't a friend of mine, sorry I said that bad. A friend of mine was in the passenger seat and messed it up. I'll try that now, but I hate having to reset the radio stations!
Battery thing didn't work, when I get my bentely book back tomorrow (friend's borrowing it) I'll try taking the seat out. Thanks
cool yall, thanks for the advice. i think i will just keep my manual seats, they do work great and fast but lthe only thing is like when you get in the car in the 15 degree mornings, its nice to have an ass warmer cause that leather gets COLD. I guess i could just get a lambskin cover for the winter though now that i think about it.
