I'm soon in the market for an E36, but I'm not sure which model is best for me. Are there any specific models/years to avoid?

Initially, this will be a daily driver. But as time passes (as with my other cars), I'm sure I'll start laying down the mods; possibly FI.

Of the 318 and 325 flavors, which is more boost friendly? If I had to guess, I would imagine the 318 (for simplicity's sake), but I'm open for suggestions.

Thanks in advance, DS

325 OBD-1 ('92 - '95)

Ideally, the 1995 M3 LTW. If you can find one

all the cars can be setup for boost, check out www.aatuning.com they have great superchargers for the 325 for about 5g install yourself if you have some background with cars, adds about 100hp, great mod and reliable. they also sell turbo set ups. i personally own both a 318 and a 325 and by all means take the 325 if you can find one. the 328 is nice due to the torque it has over the 325, but then you get into obd2 which isnt bad.... but isnt great either. anyways i would go with the 325, and start with basic mods, including wheels tires suspension.

Anyways welcome to the forums!

David

Thanks; I have some experience with cars (mostly Toyotas). NA-T conversions of Mkii Supras, learning a DIY standalone (Megasquirt) on my turbo car.

The E36 will not be aggressively modded; but that's what I said about my last car.....
