How does one remove the colour coded cover on the standard electric side mirror.
I need to replace my mirror, but would like to keep the colour coded cover of the old mirror.

Thanks

Johann

It can be removed...I had my mirror bashed off up at college and I had to have it replaced. Its actually two pieces. The black part attaches to the door itself and the second piece is the colored "cap" so to speak. When mine was busted off, I had to have both pieces replaced. They did the part on the door first, then had to have the cap painted. I had them ship it to me and I snapped it back in place. I'm not particular on how to go about unsnapping it, as I don't want you to try and pry it off and break the tabs holding it on, but I know it can be done. I can take a look on my car when I get home from work and I'll get back to you.

My mirror's mounting plate is badly cracked and causing the mirror to vibrate at spead. BMW sells the mirror as a unit without the cover. I would like to avoid buying another cover . Mine is still in good condition.

I'm just thinking that there must be a right way to do this
Johann.
