| It can be removed...I had my mirror bashed off up at college and I had to have it replaced. Its actually two pieces. The black part attaches to the door itself and the second piece is the colored "cap" so to speak. When mine was busted off, I had to have both pieces replaced. They did the part on the door first, then had to have the cap painted. I had them ship it to me and I snapped it back in place. I'm not particular on how to go about unsnapping it, as I don't want you to try and pry it off and break the tabs holding it on, but I know it can be done. I can take a look on my car when I get home from work and I'll get back to you.
