Newbie Battery replacement question 2005 325i

I have read conflicting information and hope I can get a definitive answer. I have a 2005 325i that I need to replace the battery on. Do I need to do anything other than just replacing the battery? Do I need to plug in a power supply in the cigarette lighter to keep the radio and computer programmed? Do I have to have a dealer do this? I have replaced plenty of batteries on other vehicles… just conflicting information about the BMW..

No mate, just make sure it has the same 3 digit code as the old one (or better), it wouldn't hurt to get a slightly more powerful one...
Settings will be stored for a short while.

Thanks for the information.... but the 3 digit code? I assume you are referring to the cranking amps, right? I definitely would not go any lower.
