New Tires For 318ti Suggestions???

I'm not a hard driver at all, do mostly city and highway driving. I would like a tire that will give me a LONG life. These things are epxensive! A quiet ride would also be nice... So far, i've seen the Bridgestone r950's and they sound good...but, they're trying to sell their products, so it's not like they'd make their products sound bad. And also, I always thought that my rear tires were larger than the front ones, but i noticed that the tires i had on them right now, aren't so... I have a BMW 96 318ti sport.
