new suspension making noise

Shouldn't this set up work OK:

For a long time I wanted to lower my 98 328is a bit. At 160K it was overdue for new struts/shocks (still had originals). I went with bilsteins and the H&R sports springs to lower a bit. I've got the M3 staggered 17" wheels with stock tire sizes. Just got it back from the shop and any significant bump at speed and there's a noise - not clear to me if its tires rubbing or more of a clunk (kind of nervous to induce the noise and not a lot of experience to be sure what I'm hearing but I know it doesn't sound right).

Would it be expected to have to "roll the fenders" as I've read about with this setup? Or is it some other problem?

I plan to go back to the shop tomorrow but hoping someone would have some insight before I go.

If it was a tire rubbing there should be some evidence of it either on the tire or the undercarriage, could you isolate the noise to a particular wheel that you can check out?

yes thanks I will try to isolate it or look for marks on the tires.

meantime can someone verify the setup i have (328is with h&r sport springs and bilsteins sports all around with 17" wheels) should be OK or is it expected to have to roll the fenders or is there some other problem to expect? I know this topic has been discussed i just couldn't it when i searched.

my mechanic told me it's expected for the springs to "settle" - true or BS?

I haven't had it happen since the night I picked it up and then it was only on a rough road, so maybe it's going to be okay - fingers crossed.

Yes springs will settle a little.

As for the noise ... can you at least tell us what sort of noise you're getting (knocking, sqeaks ,etc)?
