So I recently notice my shocks are going bad and I want to by the UUC sachs kit for $699 but since I don't have the money to pay upfront and I deffinatly can't afford to pay for the adjustable control arms due to x-mas. How much are bmw shocks?
u obviously have to buy them in pairs... if u look hard enough online, u can find them for cheaper then OEM...
oem for bmw shocks are BOGE... they sell them on Bavauto...
they are 150$ a piece for the front, and 75 a piece for the back.. which comes out to be 450 for just the shocks.. and u have to figure that new springs will be 200... for if u do the math, your only spending about 50 bucks more for an aftermarket part...
not including labor.. which will rape u when u do suspension work...

That is true I guess I should bite the bullet and spend the $699 upfront instead of $800+ all togethor. By the time I need new tires I should have enough money to buy new tires, rims and the adjustable control arms
Go for Konis. I bought a full set of yellow Koni sports and Eibach sport springs off of eBay for under $750. You can do the suspension work yourself; otherwise, you'll pay just a bit more for Koni work b/c it's best to put in camber plates along with the shocks and struts.
Those things are simply amazing when it comes to turning, and have a lifetime warranty.
Take a look at this write up, with pics, of how to replace the struts and you'll see how easy it is. You can rent a spring compressor for very cheap to do it.
The bently manual in the sticky (if you do not have one already) will provide you with tool sizes and more detailed instructions. Sorry that a few of the pics are entirely focues. I was borrowing some one elses camera. But doing the work yourself you'll save a few hundered dollars that can go to better suspension parts and will only take you one afternoon.
