hey guys. Just got a 98 318i, and I want to start modding. I have seen some stuff on here that maybe you guys can help me identify, and let me know where to get. I want to get a new front bumper, I have seen 1 on here that is awesome, I also want to get those headlights with the illuminated rings around them.
next, I would like to know, how do you go about making these little 4 cylinders haul ass! It already seems to handle very well. What are the basics?
but honestly the 318 is made to handle if your looking for speed i would do an engine swap because there are limits to an engine of this kind in particular
yea anything is possible so get an LS1 vette engine from a crashed vette for less than 5K$ and stick it in there and tell us the 1/4 mile times you get
Weight reductions are your friend. Each 100 lbs is a tenth in the quarter.
DASC- Downing atlanta super charger. You'll be into stock 325 maybe 328s and modded 325s but you're still running low 14s.
M3 clutch for a better lock up. Lightweight wheels, look into some Kosei K-1s, cheap and light perfect combination. Lightweight flywheel is another possibility. The 4.4 dif out of an automatic (not possitive on it) will get you to the quarter in about 13 i'd say maybe high 12s with all the other mentioned, but your top speed will be 110 and you'll hit that doing a quarter mile.

yeh, maybe if u mod a 325is, or a 328is you could get those times. an m3 would work too. corvette engine only gets 13secs on the quarter mile in my moms 96

That old addage is from 60's and 70's muscle cars that weighed 3500 - 4000 lbs stock. The lighter the car stock, the quicker you get for each 100 lbs you take off. A 318 will get a bit more than a 325, 540, 750, etc...
