A new noise started last night. It is sort of a whirring, clicking, ticking sound. Kinda like an old speedo cable that is loose. It goes up and down while I am driving, and stops when I stop. Seems like it's coming from the passenger side. I'm going to try to recruit someone this weekend to take a drive. Maybe we can find where it's coming from. I was wondering if anyone had heard something similar?

hmmm , tough call could be a few things, and in the drivers seat sometimes its hard to locate a noise, get a passenger to sit in the middle of the backseat and be able to have the car surround him/her so he can at least point to a direction to start looking. is it front or back? passenger or drivers or even in the middle?
i could name a slue of things but ill wait till you have somewhat pin-pointed a general location

Yeah, I know. It's hard to pinpoint a noise and drive at the same time. Sounds like it's coming from the passenger's side in the front, maybe behind the HVAC or radio or OBC, or who knows.

Could be, but it sounds like inside the car. Like I said, hard to pinpoint while driving.

well, there is good news, bad news. The good news: the noise is gone. The bad news: the noise went away after I added fluid to the power steering reservoir. I must have a small steering leak. There are no spots on the driveway and the fluid wasn't that low. It was just below the dipstick. Oh, well, something else to fix.

if you check and the lines aren't leaking, which they probablly are, and there are no other leaks that you can see it might mean the rack is leaking fluid into the boots on the tie rods. which would mean you'll need a new rack.
