New Head Unit And Oem Cd Changer - BMW Forum

I was told by the guy in the at stereo store that if I replace my orginal radio with an in dash CD unit, even if it has chager capabilities, that it will not be able to operate my BMW CD Changer. Is this true? Is there anything I can buy to fix that? (Besides a new changer)

That's true. It's not that it's "specific" to BMW head unit,... when you buy a Pioneer head unit, you can't plug it with a Sony charger for example.

You have to change the changer... I read there was a small cable that was changing signal, don't know if the sound quality stays... never tried.

THey sell specific adapters that will make the changer work (or maybe it is for using a different changer with the stock radio). Search online for them. They run about $100. I'll buy your OEM changer if you can't use it anymore. Also, is there anything wrong with your existing radio? I may be interested in buying that too.
