Hey I'm just new to the forums because I just bought my 318i. I am interested in new rims and was wondering what peoples suggestions were. Any trades or offers for my current ones? I am also getting it repainted a completely different color next month and was thinking a mid-night blue.. any other suggestions? And should I get the black trim painted too?

As far as rims go, mine are attached below. I love them. As far as the color goes, I think yours looks good now. If you really want to get it painted, midnight blue is a good color, so is black and I guarantee Kevin325i is going to scream green.

Really? You dont like red and your ///M wheels? Is your paint faded or all scratched up? I think it looks sweet as is, but pictures dont always tell the whole story.

If you plan on going from red to blue, dont go cheap on the paint job. THis is not the easiest color change. Unless you drop mucho coinage, all your door wells and engine bay will look like butt. I would seriously consider leaving the color. If the paint is going bad, have it repainted the same color. B)

I agree. I usually don't like red unless it comletely fits the car, and in your case it does. It will cost a pretty penny to get a quality paint job. Few thousand I would think.

The red paint is great except for a little chipage on my rear bumper when the previous owner backed into a shoping cart. I really like your rims camnipotent.. how much did you pay and where would you recomend getting them? I saw some on ebay.. good idea.. bad idea? I agree they would look good cause they look sick on your car. Any one about painting the black trim??? I think I'm leaning toward mid-night blue.

I got mine from www.wheelexchange.com for 1289 shipped with tires balanced. I actually got mine off eBay to save on shipping. They are from www.wheelexchange.com and the eBay seller was thewheelexchange. I had an awesome experience with them. Highly recommended. Also, I wouldn't paint your trim. It will most likely peel and chip. I think the black looks better anyway.

crazy how your car is a only a 318i. The former owner did a sick job of making it look like an ///M3. I am not a huge fan of red cars, but this red head is pretty damn good looking. I agree with the other guys, I'd leave it red and leave the trim black unless you were to get it professionally done. Getting the whole car painted would be a pain. If you really wanted it done right, you could have the engine taken out for the paint job as I have seen it done so the bay would match, but it would be serious cash for all of that. You don't want to go cheap on the paint. I'd leave it as is and chuck some cash into the engine. Make it as fast as an ///M3 too

welcome to the forum and goodluck!

Thanks for your input. I'll leave the trim alone. But I'm not a red kind of guy. I really like fast cars but I had a ticket problem with my previous car. But police don't bother me any more. I'll have about $1,500 to mod the engine to get alittle more hp after I paint her up. Any suggestions??? Here's my old car.

Yes. Take his advice. How much did you plan on spending for the paint job. We'll get list of mods that will compliment your car much better.

Why don't police bother you any more? Yeah, statistically red is the most sought out car for speeding tickets. How much for paint? Burn the Mustang.

Burn the MUSTANG?!! That was my pride and joy. I can't really speed in the 318 it's kinda slow untill 3rd. The mustang would smoke both tires off the line like a champ. A guy I play hockey with and a friend of my families has a very good and respectable auto body shop said he would paint it for a grand.

Hmm. What type of other cars does this guy work on? Have you seen the quality? That's the difference. Paint is one of the few things you should never be cheap on.

I've got a 318i also... and mine is red. I like the BMW red. I think it looks great. If you do get it painted though you will really have to get almost everything taken out of under your hood and get the enitre body painted, not just what is visible from the out side with the hood down. Because as soon as you pop your hood you'll have all that red stareing at you and it will look really really bad. My clear coat is coming off, but I've not had it redone because it's soooo expensive to get it done right. I think you would enjoy putting that money toward mods. With the 1,500 you said you would have after painting the car, and the cost of paint, you can get a great suspension, chip, intake, full exhaust... just about whatever you wanted short of SC or TC.
