New Clutch Kit

hi all,

how much does a clutch kit cost for a 97 328IS. I am in Atlanta, GA and the mechanic Bavarian Imports said it would cost me 360$ for the entire kit.
The labor will cost 612$$$$$.

Isnt tht ridiculous. Does anyone in Atlanta, Alpharetta or somewhere close in Georgia know of a good mechanic who can replace the clutch for an equivalent price.

oh i dont mind gettin my hands dirty if someone can be there while i do it.

I replaced clutches on a jetta and maxima, and they run around your suggested price.

well actually about $600 total (parts+labor), but i don't think anyone will charge that for a BMW.

$612 for labor is a good price, i have gotten as low as $500 and the highest i got was $900. I call around to a lot of places for big jobs like this. You'll be amazed in the array of quotes..

I have seen clutch kits cheaper tho. Search online. A basic factory Sachs clutch kit should be around $200.

check on ebay - I just bought a Sachs (OEM) clutch kit for $139 plus shipping.

I was looking around for a clutch kit too because my clutch is pretty worn, i think I saw 1 for around $230 on europeanautomotive.com

I wouldn't compain...I spent 750$ for parts and labor (although it was a racing clutch and they did me a favor and took off the clutch delay valve).

Anyone who is replacing their clutch...take off the delay valve. Trust me.
