alright, im ready to get a deck, probably under $200, preferably Alpine
but i read on a site somewhere that with the e36 standard head unit, the amplifier or the crossover is within the deck itself, not in the Harmsn/Kardon speakers. and it said something about this affecting the performance of your after market deck, and replacing the speakers too, is the way to go
has anyone bought an aftermarket deck and kept their stock speakers, without an amp?
any info on what deck you got, any trouble you ran into installing it, or anything would be helpful

Yeah I heard it before the subs were installed. ALPINE is a GREAT brand and the quality was excellent. I'm not sure what you're asking with the 199.99. If you are asking if you need subs, you don't, it's just a nice effect.
Yeah, but there probably isn't too much difference. I love the MP3 capabilities, I have only had 1 CD in there since I got it, with 140 songs on it. Perfect. Why do you want a bazooka tube? Do you not have much room in your trunk or something?
no, subs just take up so much room, and then i have to get a box for them and stuff, just seems like an extra pain in the ass
but im learning the stick on this car, theres this stop sign with a vertical hill i was practicing on, and some ass**** in an suv pulls up like an inch from my bumper
so then i panic, slam on the gas, pull out the clutch, and did the most painful burnout, poor tires

If you need the room then the bazooka is a good alternative. Those hills are a huge bitch. If you are really nervous about another shitty start, you can use the E-Brake to slow or stop the rolling backwards problem. Just remember to release the brake as you start to move. A smoking E-Brake would be quite embarassing.
