I am looking to purchase some new brakes for my '96 328i... must they be 'BMW Brakes' ? any help would be greatly appreciated... thanks.

Well I was quoted 1,000 from the BMW dealer that i usually goto... and im sure about 60-70 percent of this bill is labor... so about 400-500 enough to spend on the brakes?

I paid $398.00CDN, including taxes (14.5%), installed for front Brembo rotors and new pads on all 4 corners on a 96 318i
