I just bought a 92 BMW 318i, it has a very high mileage!! I this is the 1st car I ever had :lol: I heard that the maintanance fro BMW is quite crazy, could you guys gimme some important information or just anything I should know. Thanks alot guys!

See if you can find the BMW dealer where the work was done. at BMW of san diego they had all 39 service records from my car, and I asked nicely so they printed them out for me.

They just needed the last six digits of the VIN.

Its very good to know what service has been done before, so you know what to look for. Was very informative.

How many miles on car? how does it run? have you had it inspected it up on a lift?

oh you will probably wanna by the chiltons repair manual for the car, you can get them on amazon for $13.

First tip:
dont buy a 318 with high mileage

a huge bmw tip for ya tho:
dont do the cheap unqualified mechanics... they screw your car up good

First of all, just make sure you do the regular common sense maintenance and you'll be fine.

Check your oil. Don't always go by the green oil service indicator lights...keep track of your oil changes and try to change the oil every 4000 miles to keep your engine running smooth.

Wax the exterior regularly to protect the paint.

Add Techron (Chevron) additive to your gas every month to keep the fuel injection clean.

Inspect your brakes and keep that brake dust off your wheels.

Clean the engine compartment once in a while too.

but my car broke down after I poured chevron techron into my tank. I can't get my car started right now, I just dunno why, does anybody know what is goin on with my car? The battery is fine, I just changed it. I was running smoothly the day before it broke. The sound when we all try to get our car started, is there, but it just can't start....sigh...
