New Air filter

Hey, Im new here, but my dad and I are gunna start working on his 95 325 convertible. I fabricated a cold air intake with a cone filter from my old probe gt and it fits on my dads BMW. I am wondering if those two hoses from back of the airbox are vital, or if they can just be connected to the intake tube. Thanks

to answer your question, no they are not vital to the cars performance, from what i recall its some sort of air/altitude reader. not vital at all, just one more of BMW's extra features (which really only means more service costs to make money on hahahahahaha) seriously dont worry about it, I personally have mine tie-wrapped to the frame because of my CAI
