New '92 325i Owner, Where Do I Start?

Just bought '92 325i 5 speed w/147k miles. Need advice on gas grade, is it necessary to use premium. I don't plan on abusing the car but will want it to respomd when necessary. I don't have a manual but the gas guage does say use premium. What octane is considered premium? What is the "chip" I keep reading about, what does it do, how much does it cost, where do you get it etc...? Also looking to possibly replace seats as they are carcked, but no rips or tears or seams comming apart. All advice welcomed. I also need "Owner's Manual", is ther a PDF version somewhere?

as to your gas question! u should use 89 octane or better... i use 93 in my car!! she loves it!!

the chip, everyone is talking about is a computer chip which is put into your car and remaps the gas and increases hp, and gets rid of the top speed limiter of the car... u can find them all over the place... i personally would buy them from bavauto... its about 300 bucks.. but its well worth it

about your seats... sure u can allways buy new 1's or u can have them re-leatherd.. which ever u prefer!!

I had to purchase an owners manual from the dealer...It was less than 20 bucks..
