i just got 17" rims. i love them. mine are 17x7.5. my tires are 215 45 17. it looks good. i just now really need to drop it. i love my rims tho. i think 18" rims would fit a little bit better. but it still looks really good.

Most people use 225/45/17 for a 17" tire. You can stagger front and rear, don't know if that's any better than same size wheels. As I understand it, the M3 uses staggered wheels, but the same size tires all around.

yeah my dads m has staggered wheels... anyways i have stock m3 wheels on my car and i think those (any of the stock m3 wheels) are the best choice for the e36 (thats just me) there are a bunch of great companies out there though that make rims, do some research and dont go bigger than 18. 18 is big enough IMO. i prefer 17s but that is also my opinion.

heres some sweet m3 wheels (contours)

i say SAY NO TO THESE!
