I own a 318i and looking at making it better lol

its a wreck for sale in which chances are i will buy.

Going down this weekend for a look to see the extend of the damage.

I am not worried about the shell, i want to strip it apart "bmw's and bmw parts in australia are way over prices"

From a look at this, how much mechanical damage could be done

Also if i was planning to fix it, how much would i be looking at

Note a 325i with these k's is worth approx $20,000 Au
He said $6,000 cash and it was mine, i have a 2003 XR8 ute so ill tow the thing back my self,

i believe for $14,000 i can fix it

It's totalled ! It's Junk! Like you said: It's a future parts car. Here in the States nobody would think of buying it except for some parts, and even the parts are 13 years old already. But down there you guys have a different view of what's junk and what's not. Offer the guy a couple of hundred bucks.

if i were to guess the frame is smushed. the drive line would be way out of alignment. the gas tanks probably got moved and bent. the battery would have def. broke open (what a hazardous mess to clean up). i would not use any of the rear end. the fuel door lock prob. got smoked. unless you have a frame puller and can cut off and change the rear right quarter...forget about it and keep looking. i have owned a wrecked car before and it seemed there would be more and more stuff that would fail over time. i will never buy another one of these types of cars again. it is just not worth the risk and the headaches.

The Drive Line is fine and petrol tank is fine..

Im more worried about the xterior, so ill have a panel beater go over and see it

Tell the panel beater to bring a really big SLEDGE .... Don't do it, way to much hassle ...!
