i have a stock 96' 328is and am looking for more power. new to bmw's so im not sure what the best mods for all motor power would be. cams, exhaust, manifolds, intake, ecu? any help would be great.
This topic has been beat to death, but I will start you out in the right direction. M3 engine parts will bolt right up. A popular swap is to get the M3 cams, Shark injector (reprograms your cars ecu for more power, do this mod last because they can program it for the engine mods that you have). CAI always work well, the most recommended one is the K&N FPIK (I think i got those letters right), comes with a heat shield and mounting instructions, best CAI for the money.

Yeah, the software is like $300 and the CAI is a little bit less than that I believe. The cams will be a couple hundred plus the labor... so it's not cheap, but worth it from what I have heard. I believe there are some dyno graphs of people with simliar setups floating around here. Hopefully one of them will chime in.. .or search for them...
just transplant an M3 3.0 ltr or(3.2)
thats the only way to obtain a reasonable power gain....
why play around with 20 or 30 bhp...not worth it in the long run.
i have asked the same question mate, let me know if you have any joy, and i will like wise, i am thinking of an m3 engine swap, but not sure on how much hassle it would be...............ill let you know.
