Need help with Rear Window not going up sometimes...
The rear pass window of my '93 e36, 325i has an intermittant problem that involves the window UP control only. The window will go down anytime its up but when down and trying to go back up it will not and they days later it will.
Also, when it won;t go UP I don.t hear any click or interior light dimming like when the DOWN button is pressed.
I checked the voltage at the plug to the motor by unplugging and checking volts and get +12v for each window button click(UP & Down), so voltage is getting to the motor. The motors resistance is around 1 ohm.
Does this mean the motor is bad/weak or does it have some kinda thermal protection that has to reset vefore I can use the UP button?
Do I have to replace the motor AND regulator arms if it is bad?
Is the problem occuring when you use either switch? (the one at the door, or the one on the console?). Could be just a dirty switch, since you don't get the dimming dome light effect. Try some CRC electrical contact cleaner or swap switches on the console and see if the problem moves with it.
