How do I put the top down on a 96 318i. It is a rental and I don't know how.

There should be a rocker switch just in front of your gear shifter if I remember right. Just push the up direction and hold for about 30 seconds.

A 96? Hum, I don't have a convertible so I'm not sure, but I know the 97 328i is automatic.

Anyone know about a 96 318?

I've never actually seen the locking mech on an e36, but my father once owned a z3. The procedure should be the same.

There should be a latch above each visor. Release them, and pull it back.
