Need help with with my 325is

My 94 today starting acting crazy. It barely got my wife to work. I checked it out after work. It started right up and idled at just under a grand. perfect left it sit for about a minute idleing and it was fine. I backed it out of the spot and as I was pulling it back in thats when it went nuts. The idle just starting racing up and down fighting to stay running and then it shut off. btw all the guages were going crazy...they were all flipping around. My wife works at a bar so I went in and left it sit for an hour and had a beer. Went out again. She fired right up....Reved the engine up to like 3 grand a couple times and it was fine. Then I backed it out of the space and pulled it back in and again it went crazy. Idleing nuts..and then shut off. I started it 4 or 5 times after that and it would run for like 10 seconds and then start going crazy again. I'm pretty sure it's a sensor. The engine sounds perfect when it's at idle. The question is which one and how hard is it to replace. I really don't want to take it to bmw and have them put it on the computer but I'm not sure I have a choice. Anybody have an opinion or some advice?

Sounds like a dirty idle air control valve. Have you cleaned it out this year? Do a search, there's a couple of How-To articles on it posted on some of the forums (with pictures...). Go by Walmart and pick up a can of Berryman's Chemtool spray to clean it out. Might as well get a few cans to pour in the gas tank too to clean the injectors.

yeah thats waht i thought, dirty icv or a vaccum leak. thats what mine did too, although the guages didnt go crazy like that.

Sounds like your computer is somehow fucked up. Or you could have an electrical short somewhere.
