Exclamation Need Help!!

I dont know what happened, but my car started idling really funny really low, and when I tried to give it gas to move the car it wouldn't go really at all and would backfire occassionally.

And also my trac ctrl light came on, and I couldn't turn it off. I had to get new swaybar mounts welded in yesterday, but I called the place and they said they disconnected the ecu, and battery. So I didnt know if something on the ecu could have fried? It was a reputable BMW place with factory trained BMW mechanics, called Bimmerworks in West Chester.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I had to park my car at the place I went for lunch.

I would say either Idle Air control valve or MAS. If you know of someone in your area you can swap MAS and check that to start.

Is MAS the ecu?

It just seems odd how the trac ctrl light went on, on the dash (meaning its off), and wouldnt turn off when I pressed the ASC button.

^I did for a short time.

I got it towed home about an hr ago, I think it is a really clogged fuel filter. If it was the pump going completely, I dont think that the car would start right?, but for starters I will replace the fuel filter tomorrow.

It really doesn't sound like a fuel pump. See if anyone around your area has an E36 325, E34 525 or 530 or an E36 M3. You can just take it out and try it should take 30 minutes tops.

oh ok, I will look into that then.

I started it up yesterday and drove it around the neighborhood and it was fine.. Maybe the ECU got damp perhaps, or anything like that?

atanakin is on a distinguished road
ive found that the best thing to do in these situations is to go to the bimmer dealership and have them check it out rather than waisting your time trying to figure it out and possibly replacing good parts. cost $50-100.
