Im wondering if any of you have seen this before... FYI: I drive a 92 325is (e36) heavily modded with a baby seat and "baby on board" racing decals. :P
Two days ago I was driving home when my window started to move up and down as if I were opening and closing the door. "Up - down - up - down.. stop... -up -down - up - up" it was driving me up the wall!
Anyways, I parked it for a day with the window about an inch open (it wouldn't close after I closed the door, it just got all freaky on me again and settled). The next day I came out to the garage to find the car.... battery dead, windows are completely down.
This is obviously an electrical issue, but I have no idea where to start. Has anyone ever seen this before?
I would have to say something with the switches, or in that area.

Baby on board? Aw, darn, I was hoping to smash into your car...maybe next time.... :P
I've seen the general module freak out, and make all the window go down before. It burned up all the window motors since it was trying to keep them going down.
So, it could be the general module/ZKE.
You say that ALL the windows were down? If it was only one, it could be the door contact switch.
Faulty door switch. That also explains your dead battery.
