it is a 1992 325is automatic.the car runs but the tranny slips in the lower gears if i get it on the highway it will run like a beauty.im looking into maybe getting a used tranny from a wreck yard. i have heard that maybe by changing the fluid it would help. any recomendations would help me .

before buying a tranny try changing the fluid. try merc/dextron 4/5, i believe it is a synthetic. also add some lubeguard as an additive to the tranny and see if that helps.

If all that dosn't work then put some brake fluid in the fluid to limp it along till you can get a used one. The brake fluid swells the seals and will make it drive better for a little while then die so make sure you only use it if you know a new tranny (or used) is on its way. I am sure people will hate the idea but it will get you where you need to go for a little while anyways. Or you could try some sort of trans fix which does the same stuff as brake fluid just more expensive.
