My Story For The Night..

I was driving home and noticed the battery light appear on my dash. I assumed it just got low and would kick back soon, so I turned my radio off and kept going..

Less than a minute later I notice my engine is on red, hot as it can get, so I quickly get to a side lane to pull into a parking lot.

When I pull into the plaza, my power streering kicks out, I struggle my way into a spot and call it quits.

Called my friend, told him what happened, before I could finish the story he said the alternator belt popped, I poped the hood and he was proven correct. It was one or two belts that popped, I couldn't really see, it happened around 11:30.

Soo, now my baby's sitting in a Burger King parking lot waiting to be fixed tomorrow

Does anybody know how to get to those belts? Also, are they any special kind, or can I stop by an automotive store and pick some up?

I see them at Auto Zone and Strauss all the time...but I'm sure BMW belts may be different.
If it's just the belts that need replacing sounds like a $50-$100 fix at the BMW dealership.

Also it sounds as if you just bought this car....It would invest about $500 and get a full diagnostic at the BMW dealership....I was sort of forced to do this last July when my just-bought E36 started acting up and I had warning lights on and stuff. It's not bad because BMW did a Vin check and they find all the info on that car and do a full diagnostic test and estimate what needs to be fixed and then you can either have them fix it or take it to someone else or DIY and fix your car....

well at least the belts sound like a DIY thing...But I would get that car checked out for a full diagnostic...that is if you haven't already...

I've done that :/ this belt was suposedly replaced this last June. I'm not sure of the quality of that shop I brought it to..

Oh...did their work come with a warranty? Maybe you could get a refund or have them take care of it. Well I suppose if it did you'll be going back to them. At least have them tow your ride for free since it was their work that failed in your car. HAve them tow it to the dealership and get the right belts. At the BMW dealerships they take accountability and give warranty for their work done on your car...like I said those belts are pretty cheap compared to ther stuff that goes wrong in that area...

Just checked, 90 Day, 14,000 miles. It's been 6 mo. :/

I found an automotive shop with the belt in stock, so we're gonna pick it up and replace it ourselves. shouldn't be too hard ::hugs book::
