Hey guys, I'm new to the site and also BMW's, so I thought I'd drop a line to say to hi to everyone and show some pics of the 95 325i I just got today. Also I would like to know in general what should I be wary of with this car, or what I should look for in general.
So far what I've come across is that on the on board computer, the check engine coolant level keeps coming up, although when I checked it everything seemed fine. And the airbag light seems to stay on for about 5 minutes before it turns off.
All in all the car runs great and I'm very sastified in my purchase. This is also my first rear wheel drive car, and I must say its a blast to drive. As far as I can tell it has some kind of optional kit on it, because I see some of the same cars without it. (sorry, new to the whole BMW scene. ) And from the very limited I've been able to research so far it has the vanos 2.5 litre 6 cylinder SFI 24-Valve DOHC rated at 184 hp. 4 Door built in Germany.
All your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Amazing, that is a very nice-looking car you got. I also have a '95 325i, but yours doesn't look similar to it. Looks more like a '96 328i. My guess is your car was customized with a rear wing, sideskirts, and repainted on the gray tone around the bottom. However, based on the engine, it has to be a '96 or so I thought.
Yeh its a manual, with 87k miles plus change. Paid $7500. Cash talks Think it was a good deal?

Yes. Your car's book value is 8,205. Cash does talk. That's some of the best advise I could give. When you go to buy a car, be pre-approved or have cash easily accessable. That way when you find your car you can say, "I'll give you XX,XXX and I can have it in cash TOMORROW." That is very tempting to some and usually the price can be lowered. Nice work.
Hmm.. I got a KBB of $12,395. What did you use for your quote, maybe I messed up somewhere, either way I'm happy hehe. I bought it from a private seller also

That's the way to do it. I used kbb too and just selected manual 1995 4D 325 Sedan. 87,000. Excellent shape. Hmm, whatever. Anyhow, you still got a good deal!
Cool, guess it doesnt really matter as long as its worth it to me i suppose. hehe. anyways thanks again for your input!

Here's some advice... Don't do what this kid did.
Check coolant is kinda goofy. Mine's low right now and it's not complaining... other times it does when it's full. I dunno, it hasn't complained in a while
If you live where the weather is cold sometimes, the temperature warning thing on the OBC can get annoying and startle you a bit when it goes "booooing" (usualy about 2 minutes after you start the car if the weather's near freezing)
Mod I sugest you do: Get some euro elipsoids, the stock plastic headlights are HORRID compaired to the elipsoids.
Here's a website with lots of information and things to do to your car. E36 DIY Links Page
Q for other guys: How can you tell that he has the sport package just by looking at the side? My 98 323 looks like that on the side (I guess...)
It doesn't have a sport package but it has been painted.

Back to your origional question DIY, things to be wary of your car. There is a very good FAQ section on this site {HERE} that tells most everything you need to worry about. I would put replacing the water pump to an upgraded unit at the top of my list.
As for mods, Bitcore made a solid suggestion. I recently added Euro eillipsoids and they look as good off as they do on. Maybe those and going to clear markers all the way around, and you will have a rockin litttle sled!!
