most likely, that light is on due to a seat-belt related problem. i might be wrong, but if its bothering you, take it to your nearest dealership and they will fix it. i wouldn't be worried about taking the steering wheel off when the lights on, lol, its not like your airbag is going to deploy in your face just because you're taking the steering wheel off. if that was going to happen, i'm pretty sure it already would have. so go ahead and go for it.

the airbag light will need to be reset. its not the same as the service light.
if it comes back on then there is a problem with a sensor somewhere. under ur back seat is the control unit, if something hits the seat hard, it can bump the wires or something simple that the unit doesnt like and it will turn the light on.
its nothing to worry about usually....so have it reset. if it comes back on then start to worry.
Don't worry about your SRS if you can't fix it right away, mine's been on for a year now solid and nothing's happened :P

when your computer recognized a problem in your safety system it shuts down the air bag completely as to avoid an accidental deployment. So if you get in an accident you might be screwed. anyway, get it checked out.

hahahahaah, thats funny... mine has been on for a couple weeks now... it just annoys me when i drive at night....
Basically go to the dealer and have a technician reset it. I know there are tools to reset the oil service indicator (electronic tools that you can buy). But I don't know about the Secondary Restraint System (SRS). I know that my mechanic won't reset it because by law BMW has to, or at least thats what he says.. :P Look on www.bavauto.com and see if they sell a kit for the SRS reset.
