my 2d seats dont lock in place when i adjust the seat to go in the back

hey guys, im trying to fix this seat, well u know the handle bar you pull up when u want to decline/incline the seat manually to go in the backseat of the car, well my chair doesnt lock in, meaning if u sat on the passenger seat u would fall back, is it a gear? wat is it i really need to fix this since ill be going on a date soon, help!

my seat is electric and my car is 2 doors 97 year 328

nvm i took appart both seats, im giving it to my mechanic tomorrow its too tough for me

its a wire, mine did that in my e30, went to ace hardware, piked up some steel wire,and some other crap for 2 bucks, rigged it up the way it was supposed to be, now its stronger than stock.....and the dealer was gonna charge me 20 bucks for that piece

no it wasnt, but thats wat i thought it was when i took it apart, actually i dont know how my mechanic fixed it, i was watching him, and he didnt do anything, it was like magic
