My 1996 E36 Touring Engine Problem.

Took Car on long run the other day (Alton Towers.)to be precise. Anyway after few hours of driving i was following another vehicle holding at 70mhp when i noticed MPG needle sitting at 10 mpg and below at 3rpm normaly sits around 30-40 mpg at 70mph 3rpm then when i throttled off as doing speed limits engine cut out then throttle down and off if went again with no probs until 500ish miles later, Now trying to hold at content speed is a nightmare as engine cuts out and runs very lumpy and uses a Sh** load of fuel at low speed you can almost watch fuel gauge drop using twice as much fuel as normal.Had all Engine covers off felt around all air pipes no leaks cant see any obvious problems also when i started this morn idled fine.

Any ideas would be great thanks.

You checked ALL of your vacuum lines and intake boot? Try checking and cleaning the ICV and checking your MAF. If you have a voltmeter you can check your throttle position sensor (TPS) and your Camshaft Position Sensor (CPS) to make sure they arnet worn out. I believe the CPS should read 1140ohms.
