Multi-Information Display (MID)

New to the forum, but long time BMW owner. I have two questions....

1) The Multi-Information Display (MID) unit is displaying German words instead of English. A dealer mechanic said that it can be changed from German to English, but didn't know the specific procedure. I have the Check control/ambient temperature/clock version of the MID. Does anyone know the procedure to change the display from German to English? ghead

2) The service manual says that there are 4 different versions of the Multi-Information Display (MID) [Ambient temperature/clock, Check control/ambient temperature/clock, check control/clock, and on-board computer. Does anyone know if you can replace the Check control/ambient temperature/clock with the on-Board computer from another car? I wanted to see if I could upgrade to the on-Board computer.

as for your second question it takes quite a lot of work to swap OBC's id suggest against it.
