My buddies got a chrome muffler for sale. It looks like a glass pack but it has the mounts on it,, soo its JUST THE MUFFLER. WAT I WANT to kno how much louder it will be? iF it will pass emissions? and HOw much it will cost? THanks a lot and please reply if you have any idea.
You need to tell us what kind of muffler it is first. (IE: brand\model) Otherwise we have just as much information, if not less, than what you have.
Mufflers only muffle the sound of exhaust. Catalytic Converters (AKA: Cat's) do the work of lowering harmful emissions. Changing muffler's should not affect your emissions ratings.
See if you can try it on first if he's a good friend.
Thats just a resonator, Its a section of pipe that is wider than the rest. Basically it attempts to create a bottle neck at one end, thus making the sound rattle around a little longer making it sound deeper. In theory. However these usually never work like that except on V8s which are already low in the first place.
And if you use that as a solitary muffler you will be extrememly loud.

yea i was looking underneath my car and it has dual catalytic converters, dual resonators (but they are half the length), and dual pipes rite into the muffler. SO how would i make that fit? any Ideas..

The muffler or the resonator? I don't know why you would want to fit on a single resonator when you already have two? But if you realy want to, then take it to a muffler shop and they will fit it for you.
Maybe i didnt really clarify this in my previous post, but these are not mufflers. These are resonators. They dont lower the decibles they just change the pitch and the tone of the exhaust. You will pretty much need a hole new exhaust system made from the catalytic back to just have these installed. Absolutely no point to it.
