hello
i have a 1993 318is euro spec car . i just got it today . i want to add some more HP to it . im kinda new with the whole car mod thing. i seen some treads about turbo vs supercharger ? not sure which would be better for me , or if there is anything else that i can add to the car (like i said dont know to much about cars). im looking to spend like $1000 to 1500.00to upgrade. plz help let me know what i can do (company, links, priceong of mod).i would really appreciate the help . thank you
Ricky
well you could always sell the car and go for a 325 or an m3... but unless you want to do that i would check out bavauto.com turnermotorsport.com bimmerworld.com and stuff like that
I would start with changing the computer chip in the injection brain. that increases your HP by 22+ and increases your revs by a few hundred more.
Turbo or supercharge?? @ $1000 - 1500, think again. Turbo kit is around $1000(excluding labor to install & downpipe mods); supercharger maybe twice more. Might not be worth the effort considering what other options you have available to you...
^I understand the m42 is fairly robust, it is generally a great suggestion and I would still look into it. If you want to start getting big power from a 318 you have to spend a lot of money to do it since bmw did a good job with design. This engine is happiest above 3500rpm, learn to drive it like you stole it.
You could try the downing atlanta supercharger kit.
Simple things are chip, exhaust, intake.

do vehicles belonging to US Army staff have to pass German TÜV testing?
because in that case I'd check with them if they'll accept the mods, especially the aftermarket xenon
