Most people reccomend a downing atlanta supercharger for the 1.8 liter engines. Many times on the auto-x results for bmw's, the 328i's and the 318ti's are matched closely in track times, maybe the ti handles the best of the 3 E36's...why not save your money and put it into handling. Trust me, i have a 325is and the power isnt that great, and thats the same as if you had put a supercharger on your 318.
I think the thrill of corners will always out-do straight line exceleration.
