When I bought my car a couple of weeks ago from a used car dealership, they told me that they had replaced the climate control computer, and it would need to be brought to a BMW dealership to be coded. Yesturday I brought it in, and they programmed it, changed the blower resistor and the filter. It works much better except it blows air out the wrong panels. If you select defroster, it will blow out the dash panels. THe BMW dealership couldn't figure you why. Has anyone heard of a problem like this?
the car was messed up when I brought it in to them. They think the dealer I bought it from might have put the wrong computer in. Ther dealer I bought the car from wasn't a certified used BMW dealer, just some joe smoe dealership in queens
BMW said you have to order a replacement based on the numbers listed on the old unit being replaced. The BMW dealer told me there are three different climate control computers for a 97 328. They weren't sure what would happen if you picked the wrong one.

You can ask the BMW dealer for the number you should have. I'd heard someone here who had the same problem!

the dealership should know their stuff... that's what you pay them expensive $$$$ for.
if some of their people dont know, then DEMAND that you get to speak with someone who does. have them call their german engineers if necessary. if they couldn't explain it, who elso do they expect to?
you just have to assert your right to their expertise, dude!
the dealership I bought my car from wasn't a BMW dealership. The place I brought the car to was a BMW dealership. THe BMW dealership was willing to keep working on the problem. The dealer I bought the car from was supposed to pay the bill. I had them stop working on it because I was afraid the dealer wouldn't want to pay the bill, which was already up to $300. The shop was charging $150 an hour.
It's a damn good thing I did too, he now doesn't want to pay the bill. Car dealers suck ass, I think they are lower than lawyers!
