Money Shift and what happens next?

I just got my e36 93 a few days ago, money shifted from 3rd at about 6-6.5k rpm to 2nd gear.

-hose going into intake arm between MAF and intake manifold ripped right off,rubber n all
-when i try n start it, no cranking or turning over, nothing but electronics work.
-toe truck guy says timing belt, and from what i understand, a timing belt means valves and pistons are donzo?

Please give me some advice

140k original miles, and everything is stock.

we also push started it and it started for about 3-5 seconds and died immediately, and i couldn't give it any gas, i'm thinking due to the intake hose.

hat means you can save gas if you turn off you car while waiting at long traffic light sequences, railroad crossings or while your better half pulls money......
So how did money shift so dramatically to the opposite meaning and life force of its creation and childhood.....?
