Mods to do to my Car??

My 318i is a 4 door and has about 133k miles. Its a 1.8 liter 4 cylinder and automatic. Any suggestions for engine and performance mods I can do??

Anyhoo, I don't want to put you down, but you should have bought a 5 speed. The Automatic 318's are dogs. I have a 5 speed 318 and when it was stock I could barely stand it. After moderate engine modifications the car is sufficient, I'm happy. I'd never be even close to satisfied with the automatic version.

Since you're asking for ways to increase power, I'm afraid you're kind of stuck on that. Pretty much your only solutions are..

- Supercharger (DASC Eaton blower)
- Turbocharger (mossleman Garret Turbo)
- Manual tranny swap
- Engine swap (to an M3, even auto 325's are slow, no offense to anyone who has one)

There's nothing wrong with driving an automatic if you don't care about performance. However, you're asking performance, should have gone with the 5 speed. That's about the top of list as far as anything that will make your car faster.

I see in your sig that you plan on getting 18" wheels!? Well, you better make sure you like all show no go, because that's going to slow your car down even more!

I only paid $4000 for this so i got one hell of a steal. As for rims i dont care, i plan on staying in town pretty much.. I dont care about stick i got this because i know the dealer and he always has good deals. This car is MINT, absolutely 100% MINT, nothing wrong with it hehehehe.

If you want more performance (more go), test drive the 5 speed version of the 318. I'm betting you'll care after that. :wink

$4K is a good deal, the milage is quite high so the average price of the car is $5000-$5500.

Go for looks man...I have a 325i automatic with tons of engine mods and I still want my old ford zx2 back for racing around :P The engine itself isn't bad just the fact it's an automatic kills any type of racing... I can't imagine trying to supe up a 318 engine for speed... you got a hell of a steel.. make the car look fat and sell it for a profit and then buy an m3
