First post, but anyways just what would you guys do in my shoes?
I have a 1997 318i with almost 96k miles, everything is stock. Would you guys mod it or would you save up and try to get a newer or different 3 series?
What do you think is better in the long run?

If on the other hand you are lookin for significantly better acceleration, you would be better of going into a 3er with the inline 6.

Yeah I had a 92 325i, before this little guy, and compared to the driving, the 318i is a ton better but the 325i had 126k, don't know if that is any difference. The downfall with the 318i is its automatic and this thing lags like crazy sometimes.
Auto to manual transmission swap with an LSD, maybe a higher gear ratio so you have more pep but less top speed.
It won't be too cheep, I'd say somewhere around 2,000, maybe 2,500 for M3 parts and stuff.
Originally posted by mmzcee@Dec 8 2004, 09:42 PM I'd personally save up and sell the 318 to get a 328 or maybe a m3, but I've seen plenty of very nice 318s

Thats what got me there. I would love to have an M3, as would anyone so I don't know.
I'm a newbie when it comes to modding cars so, I've been doing some research. I plan on getting the corners of course. I think bavo smokes would look nice, new rims, spoiler, maybe lower it a little bit. Just got to budget my money. Any ideas?
Save up and get something better.
Yeah, like I'm the one who should talk. I said no more upgrades to my car, only maintenance. But I just bought ZKW's + HID.
Well I figure if I get rid of the car I can always sell them and get some money back.
Yeah I think I'll just save up some, and start looking for a new car. I would love to find a 325i, 328i, or M3. Just gotta start getting the mine ready for a trade in.
