I am curious if any of you guys had this check engine light came on and the error read out as "misfire cylinder 1" and the engine will start shaking until its turn off reset it and turn it back on will run smooth again, so far I have replaced all spark plugs with platinum 4 and also replaced the coil on cylinder 1, what in the world is going on? ghead

uh oh platinum 4 eh?? thats what I've put in has the same problem everynow and then....I'm taking them plugs out. I heard they do stuff like that, I personally think it sucks. Good luck fixing ur car.

don't know... misfiring could be from a number of things, but if it doesn't do it all the time then it sounds like something electrical for sure.

I recently changed coil 5 I have seen different forums stating that misfire on coil one is really misfire on coil 5, I will give this a shot so far since this moorning is running smooth we'll see?
However I will keep your guys post it.

I would tend to agree with Eggrolled211.

From what I have read on these boards, there seems to be a general agreement that the [Bosch platinum +?] 4s are more troublesome than the cheaper +2s or equivalent. I know it's costly for the +4s, but for the price of a half dozen +2s you could test that theory.

I also have the 1997 328i and haven't had that problem [knock on wood]
