I had an "oops" the other day... if you didn't see the thread, it's here. I've already fixed the windshield and I have a replacement mirror on the way now.
Is it possible for me to install the side mirror myself? Or is it more than I want to get myself into? Anyone have any instructions or a website diy or anything?
When my mirror came off after the Bus swiped me...the dealer's mechanic told me that since the fuse was shorted it would involve some wiring....but if not then it's basically connect the wires and glue.
Harry you can check this by seeing if your power on the otherside mirror still work...if not it may be harder to DIY...if there is power then the fuse and wiring is okay and it should be easier....
Hum, I'll check the power in a bit and see. The wiring appears to be intact from a visual inspection though. And do you suggest somewhere like Maaco to paint them?
No, it wasn't a hit and run. lol, I'm having to pay for his mailbox too. $175 because it has a Windward Emblem on it. Such a jip. lol
It is not a hard thing to do. Just take a screw driver and pry off that black piece of trim on the inside of the door, right next to the mirror. Undue the 3 bolts unclip the wiring, then take the mirror off. Do the steps in reverse to put in your new mirror... I don't think I am leaving anything out... That black plastic piece doesn't seem like it should come off without taking the door panel off, but you can. Trust me.
Anywhere know where I can get m3 mirrors for under a few hundred dollars? I dont wanna pay the $500 most places... but i'd pay like $200 if there's a deal on them somewhere....

I've been looking for ages. Since you need a fix soon, just go with the standard replacement mirror. I wish I could have been of more help. Bavauto put theirs on sale at $450, but that is not much of a discount.

I found some guy on ebay who sells powered m3 mirrors for like $185, but he wouldn't be able to get them here until next week. =/

Try calling Vines Automotive in Alabama (BMW Salvage). They most likely won't have the color you want, but they might.
