So next week, I'm repainting the bumpers and the rear of the trunk (messed up reaction with reducer and color coat by badges)
I'm going to do one of the following:
1. Remove middle most slates and put in black mesh
2. Remove middle slates and put in body colored mesh
3. Paint the slates black
The m- technik bumper isn't an option, because I don't have money for it, and I'm trying to keep a fairly stock apearance.
Also, if anyone with photo shop could make me up and picture of how the front end will look with painted bumpers and the difference between black mesh, body color mesh, black slates, I would greatly apreciate it.

I have been thinking about doing something like this but I was affraid I would mess it up. Sorry not very good photoshop skills here, we'll have to wait for a more skilled person. I think it would look cool if done right, sorry I didn't help you out at all but I got excited because someone had the same idea as me.
DAMN....you guys are badass with photoshop. I should run out and get that cause I was thinking the same thing about cutting out the slats and doing a couple of other little things. You guys inspire me!!!!!!!
So I looked at the bumper and it looks like I can run the dremil along the slates and them to be flush.
The whole bumper is one molded piece of plastic correct? Meaning if I cut these things off, there isn't going to be a plastic indent along the side where the slates were cut off... Or are the slates hollow?

this is what mine would look like
and yes they are hollow... so you would have to fix that some how... the mesh cant go over it because it comes to the front
there is one problem...
the 'slats' connect to the face of the car... and they are hallow. so if you cut them you need to put something there or youll see exposed cut plastic... is there any way to buy a (white?) plastic piece ...i have a 2 piece bumper...
i'm talking about the grey one for a 93... maybe they have an m3 style one?
I think mine is just the one piece. I'll have to make sure it's hollow or not. If it is, i'm not sure how to go about filing it in. Maybe I'll just paint the slots black and the rest green.
