Mesges On Cpu

the cars computer thing keeps giving me this mesges sayin "tail light failure", and "licence plate light fail", both work fine except the licence plate light might be loose.

but today i got another mesg sayin "brake circuit, check owners manual" any idea what it means?? after i got home i checked the break lights and everything was fine so when i restarted my car the light has gone away and hasnt come back again. i duno if this has anything to do with it but there was TONS of snow today on the roads.

I also have a 98 328i, and it developed that problem within a week after i bought it (had about 50,000 miles). Fortunatley, the tail light and brake light circuit problems are really common so you can find the info from a google search.

i had the same problem this summer. Kept getting the same error and bulbs seemed to work. I changed the bulbs anyway and the problem went away.

Bulbs are only a couple of $$$, try changing them before you go through the trouble of replacing the brake light switch.

Please do a search for this problem.. as it has been brought up a million times... its very common... google it.. or search these forums...

lol, don't worry about it, I get tail light failure codes all the time.
