i have a 1993 325i and when i have it on, no matter if i am idling or if i am driving, i hear what sounds like a clicking or ticking that matches the rps when i rev or accelerate. does anybody have any idea what this may be? sometimes i don't hear it, but more so i do hear it. any ideas?? it doesn't interfere with anything while driving, no vibrations or un-normal driving conditions, just not sure what the noise is.

its a valve tick, which is classic when it comes to BMW's... first off check your oil level in your engine, what is happening is your hydrolic lifters are not getting the proper amount of lubrication and thus tapping on the valves making that noise... if your oil level is low then top it off, also what viscosity oil are you running? sometimes if you put in too thin of an oil it will increase this occurance. The last thing i would suggest i when you change your oil next time put in 6 quarts of your regular oil that you use, and a quart of resoline which you can get from any auto store... used some in mine, and guess what?? no more noise
hope this works out for you, and let us know how it goes...
actually if i recall correctly, i by mistake put a thinner oil in my car the last time that i changed the oil. THANK YOU makes sense....again i thank you
