in the market for a 3 series - what to look for?

Hey guys, I'm in the market for a bimmer of some sort either 3 series or 528, havent made up my mind yet. I found a nice 1998 325is for a good price and was planning on going to take a look at it this week. What in particular should I look for or pay close attention to? Also, what are some major differences between the years if any?

they didnt make 325's in 98, must be a 328....

check for rust,check the front and rear shock tower mounts, rear subframe noise, and basically test drive more than 1 so u can tell the differences and maybe see if the one ur getting is running better/worse..

- Buy a 32x 5 sp coupe... Stay away from the 4 banger 318... no power.

- Do a Google search and educate yourself on "fan delete mod". You'll notice alot of high mileage 32x's have had some type of radiator, fan, water pump, thermastat work done.

- Look for cars owned by ownsers that did their preventive maintenance and kept the records.

- Run a carfax before you purchase to verify salvage, wrecked or stolen beemers.

- Take your time. Great deals pop up all the time... just be patient, do your homework and be ready with the cash.
