manual trans. swap

I am contemplating swapping from an automatic to manual transmision in my 1994 325i convertable. From what I've read so far I would need a different trans, shaft, and rear end. I'm guessing the cheapest way to go would be to find a parts car. But I need to know what models (i.e. will a 318 work?) and years (i.e 92-98?) that would be compatable with my 325iC. Does anyone know a good resource that I could use to look up parts? Thanks

a 318 will work, but i would go for a 325, 328 or m3. You will most likely have to buy a clutch and flywheel seprately. 1992 E36 - 1998 E36 will work with the swap. You will also need to but a new brake and clitch petal.

Also, your computer has to be changed or reprogramed. Usualy it refuses to work if it doesn't see an auto. trans.
